On Oct. 27, Lin Jingxian from Class 2017 of Business English, International Business Management Department won the first prize in the Fujian Provincial Final of 2019“FLTRP.ETIC Cup”English Public Speaking Contest.  She competed with seventy-five English or non-English major contestants from forty universities and colleges and was the only competitor from vocational colleges who received the first or the second prizes. 

Seventy-five contestants in the Fujian Provincial Final of 2019“FLTRP.ETIC Cup”English Public Speaking Contest are from forty institutions including Xiamen University, Fuzhou University, and Fujian Normal University.  Lin Jingxian competed easily in calm and composed manner and achieved high score of 86.68 points, the best score ever achieved by Hwa Nan since taking part in the contest and also the best score of vocational college contestants in recent years.

Lin Jingxian is a senior student of Business English program.  Her English competency was recognized by teachers after being admitted to the college.  In the past two years, Hwa Nan Chinese and foreign teachers have taken highly responsible attitude and given her intensive training to improve her English speaking skill.  Honorary Council Chair Mr. Gordon Trimble and his wife spared no effort to explore her potential, create training opportunity for her and sponsor her to study in Hawaii during winter vacation.  Lin Jingxian treasured the learning opportunity in Hwa Nan.  She worked hard and made many break-throughs. She won the first prize in the provincial final of the 15th Practical English Speaking Contest for Vocational College Students and achieved the third prize in the national final.  In the high level competition of FLTRP, she once again scored excellent and won accolades for the college.
