To carry forward traditional virtues of filial piety, promote bonds of affection and spread positive energy in the society, Light of Culture Team of Volunteers visited Hongbo Elderly Care Home, volunteering services and bringing warmth to the solitary elders on the morning of May 12.
Light of Culture Team of Volunteers actively engages in volunteer service by drawing on their professional strengths and builds up a demonstrative, sustainable, widely participated brand name for volunteer service. For the past five years, teachers and students from Education Department have been actively participating volunteer work in nine service bases on every Wednesday and Sunday, paying a total of 4032 visits and giving 12234 hours’ service. The team has achieved good social influence and its program of caring homeless elders is becoming one of the most influential volunteer projects.
On Mother’s Day this year, the team brought bread and milk to the elders, clipped fingernails, cut hair, washed faces for the elders and chatted with the elders. They put up various performances of singing, dancing for the elders and played games with the elders. Their wholehearted performance bridged the distance, passed warmth and love, and received applause from the elders. The elders were also presented with flowers and their smiling faces are the great encouragement for the volunteers.
