Ms Zhuo Yan and her sixteen students spent more than a year producing 59 paper art works in 10 series. By cutting, piercing, twining, stacking, and branding paper, they lead viewers into extraordinary stories of Hwa Nan’s 110 year history to salute the women hidden in the history. This paper art show also features 3 Lanes & 7 Alleys, and figures of Modern Chinese women writers from Fujian to awaken memories of Fuzhou history and culture.
Paper cutting displayed in this show is no longer bound to the traditional Chinese Paper cutting skills, but blending eastern and western, traditional and modern paper cutting artistic language. It is a new exploitation and exploration of paper cutting art.
