Thirty-five faculty and students from the University of Puget Sound had a two-week cultural and academic exchange program at Hwa Nan from Oct. 28 to Nov. 10.
Beginning from 1994, with the support of Trimble Foundation, University of Puget Sound started to send graduates to teach English at Hwa Nan. In 2008 two schools signed an agreement of friendship and academic association. The city of Tacoma where University of Puget Sound located is also a sister city of Fuzhou.
This visit is part of Pac Rim program of Pudget Sound. At Hwa Nan, Puget Sound students studied the courses required by the program and finished assignments. They paired up with Hwa Nan students for better communication and exchange. During the visit, they also made tours to cities of Quanzhou, Xiamen, and Longyan to further experience local cultures and to appreciate the charm of Chinese tradition.
