This fall, Hwa Nan welcomed its former faculty and old friend Dr. Betts Rivet. Dr. Betts Rivet taught in Hwa Nan from 1992 until 2012. She cared about students and the college , giving a lot of constructive suggestions to the college and donating funds for facility development. For her outstanding contribution, she won the national and provincial friendship awards and she was granted the titles of honorary citizen of Fuzhou city and Fujian province.
On Sept. 13, college made a special arrangement for Betts to tour the former campus and the foreign guest house she stayed before on Yantaishan. She was amazed seeing the changes and recalled a lot of memories of the past. College Coucil Chair and other older alumna warmly received Betts and had cordial conversation with her. During this trip, Betts once again gave scholarship to 13 recipients from low-income families who have both good characters and fine academic performance.
