On the afternoon of April 12, student volunteers from Department of Education came to Minhou Special Education School to deliver their care and warmth to the special children. Children in Minhou Special Education School are mainly deaf and mentally retarded. They have difficulty in communicating and understanding. Special patience and care are needed for these children. Volunteers taught kids painting skills and guide them to paint the most beautiful side of themselves to open up their inner world through painting. They also perform together with children in interactive ways. In the end, volunteers presented gifts to the children.
Fujian Comprehensive TV Channel made a live broadcast of the activity. Volunteers from Education Department in the interview expressed their will of carrying forward the college motto “Havingreceived,I ought to give” and their wish to continue delivering care and support to these handicapped children to help create a tolerant and nondiscriminatory society. Students also realized love sharing volunteer service has taught them to shoulder social responsibilities and to promote self worth.
